Many people choose to use cork flooring in the home design, but there is no better way to add natural beauty than to install hardwood flooring. Whether you are experienced in the installation process or are a beginner looking for a place to start, the following method is typically used for hardwood installation.
 If you are adding the hardwood to a home that has been newly constructed or a home that has been around for several years, it is necessary to make sure that all preexisting flooring is taken out and there must be a solid subflooring in place. By laying out the planks on the subfloor ahead of time, the wood will become accustomed to the home and therefore be ready to install. Many homeowner like to lay the planks out along a wall opposite to the end of the room where they will be starting so that it is out of the way but still easy to get to.
Before starting to nail down the boards, it is a good idea to put a layer of asphalt felt on top of the subflooring before starting to install hardwood flooring. Finding the edge of the first row can be done by using a chalk line as a guide. This way the flooring will be lined up and will snap together with ease and there will be a large enough gap along the wall that will allow for expansion. It will be necessary to face-nail the first row of planks at the side where the nails will be covered with molding. The next two rows should be blind-nailed by hand, but the remainder of the flooring can be nailed to the subflooring using a flooring nailer. This will make the job much quicker and allow for the rows to be as tight as possible with the previous row.
If the choice was made to go with a discount unfinished wood flooring, then the floor will need to be sanded and coated with a protective clearcoat before it can be used. However, many beginners tend to install hardwood flooring that is prefinished, such as a Bruce flooring. When this type is used, the process can be done much quicker and the floor can be used right away.
